RERoadside English
Privacy Notice
Last updated: October 3, 2026.
Roadside English helps drivers practice the roadside inspection in English by speaking. Roadside English is made by CDL Help. It is not part of DOT or FMCSA.
This notice explains what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and your choices. It is written in plain language. It is not legal advice.
What we collect
- What you say in a practice inspection. You speak with an AI inspector. We turn your voice into text, so the AI inspector can answer you.
- Your email, only if you join the waitlist. With your email, we also save:
- your page language and your English level,
- the random id of your browser (see below),
- which button you used to join,
- the campaign tags in the link you came from,
- which test version of the page you saw,
- which version of the offer terms you saw.
- Usage data. Which steps you reach (for example: you started a practice inspection, you finished it, you joined the waitlist). How long a practice inspection lasted and how many questions you answered. Your page language and your English level. Standard technical data (approximate region, device and browser type). We give your browser a random id. We use it to count unique visitors and to apply the daily limit for free practice here. We do not collect your name. If you join the waitlist, we connect your email to your practice and usage data. We do this to send your free minutes and to learn what helps drivers.
- Your IP address. Our server uses it to stop abuse, for example too many requests from one place. We do not save it with your usage data.
We do not ask for sensitive personal information, such as your SSN, your license number or your immigration status. Please do not say real numbers from your documents in a practice inspection.
How we use your voice
These companies work for us. They process what you say, so the practice inspection can run:
- LiveKit carries the sound between your browser and our server.
- Deepgram turns your voice into text.
- OpenAI writes the inspector's questions and checks your answers.
- Cartesia turns the inspector's words into speech.
We do not record or save your voice. Our server does not save the words you say. It saves only counts, for example how many questions you answered and how long the practice inspection lasted. Each company above has its own rules about how long it keeps data.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use what you say to show you ads.
Emails we send
We only email you about the app and your free minutes. No spam.
- When you join the waitlist, we send you a welcome email.
- When the app launches, we send you a launch email. The launch email shows how to get your 60 free practice minutes.
We use SendGrid to send these emails and to keep the waitlist contact list. We do not give your email to advertising companies.
You can unsubscribe at any time. Reply “unsubscribe” to any email from us, or write to contact@cdlhelp.com.
Cookies & analytics
We use Google Analytics and Amplitude to learn how people use Roadside English, so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies only after you accept on the cookie banner. If you say no, it runs without those cookies. Amplitude gets usage data from our server, with the random id. Amplitude does not set cookies in your browser.
We also save a few small settings in your browser: your language, your cookie choice, the random id, and whether you joined the waitlist on this visit. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
How we use it
- To run and improve Roadside English.
- To measure interest and how the page works while practice here is free.
- To email you about the app launch and your 60 free practice minutes, only if you joined the waitlist.
- To stop abuse, for example too many practice inspections from one browser or one place.
How long we keep it
We keep your email until the free-minutes offer ends. You can ask us to remove your email at any time.
We keep your email until your free minutes end. That is 90 days after the launch email. You can ask us to remove your email at any time.
We keep usage data as separate events, not only as totals. Each event has the random id of your browser. If you joined the waitlist, this id also connects the events to your email. We keep usage data while we use it to improve Roadside English. We have not set an end date yet. When we set one, we will show it here.
If you ask us to remove your email, we delete it from the waitlist. Then your usage data is no longer connected to your email. You can also ask us to delete your usage data.
Our server is in the United States. DigitalOcean hosts it. It stores the waitlist and the usage data.
Your choices & rights
- Say no to analytics cookies on the cookie banner.
- Unsubscribe from our emails at any time.
- Ask us to show you or delete your email or other personal data. Just email us.
- If you live in California, you can ask to see or delete your personal information. We do not sell it.
